Keeping that Olympic Spirit alive
We're introducing new ways to recognise ninja heroes

Who else is wondering what to talk about now the Olympics is over?

First and foremost, congratulations to Team New Zealand! It’s our best Olympic effort ever with 10 gold medals being brought home to Aotearoa. How good!

Watching athletes from around the world compete at the top of their chosen fields has inspired us in a few ways.

Inspiring ninja athletes

We’ve loved seeing new sports being introduced! (Maybe we don’t talk about breakdancing?) Because we’re so passionate about encouraging Kiwis to get active, we’re thrilled that ninjas jumping on trampolines or tackling the climbing towers in the Ninja Arena could maybe see themselves as future Olympic champions. Big shout out to gymnasts Dylan Schmidt and Maddie Davidson for their efforts on the trampoline, and to Julian David for firmly putting New Zealand on the world speed climbing map.

While your ninjas are out here playing, they’re burning calories, building confidence, and learning skills that could potentially take them to global sporting competitions!

But, there’s more to the Olympic Spirit than just being at the top of your game. You’ve got to have the right attitude too. One that plays hard, but plays fair, and gives new experiences a go.

Introducing Ninja Hero Slaps!

So, inspired by our incredible Kiwi athletes we’ve introduced the Ninja Heroes slap wristband. All of our Ninja Crew at Ninja Valley Hamilton are on the lookout for Ninja Heroes. Of course, Ninja Heroes are high performers achieving greatness in the Ninja Arena. Also, when our Ninja Crew see someone being kind, helping others, encouraging a friend to tackle a tough obstacle, or being brave and persevering themselves, they’ll let them know they’re being a Ninja Hero with a slap on the wrist. In this case, that’s a good thing.

The Ninja Hero slap wristbands won’t be handed out secretly. No way. Our Ninja Crew member will call the Ninja Hero over and explain why they’re awesome. After all, we want to encourage more awesome behaviour. Then a Ninja Crew member will slap the wristband on their wrist.

Ninja Hero rewards

If they want to keep the wristband, cool! Every time they wear it, it’s a reminder that they’re a Ninja Hero. Or, you can exchange the Ninja Hero wristband at the reception or Ninja Fuel Cafe for a $3 discount on anything you like. Sadly, that does mean giving the wristband back to us, but hopefully that inspires them to act in a way that earns them another!

Ninja Heroes walk among us. This is our small and fun way of recognising and rewarding them. In the meantime, let’s keep working towards greatness. I can’t wait for 2028 in Los Angeles!
