At Ninja Valley, we believe people are born to move.

It's a simple belief, but one that shapes everything we do.

That's why, each term, we open our doors and gift a community event to an organisation doing incredible work in our communities. Because we believe businesses shouldn't simply take energy from communities - they should put energy back in.

Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming more than 200 tamariki, whānau, and supporters from Cholmondeley Children's Centre to Ninja Valley Christchurch for our Term 2 Community Event.

Cholmondeley Children's Centre provides short-term emergency and planned respite care for children and families across Canterbury, supporting tamariki and whānau through periods of challenge, change, and recovery. Their work creates opportunities for families to reconnect, build resilience, and thrive - values that align deeply with our own mission at Ninja Valley.

For one evening, our arena became more than a place to play.

It became a place for families to connect.
A place for tamariki to build confidence.
A place for courage, laughter, and belonging.
A place where an entire community could come together.

The atmosphere throughout the evening was extraordinary.

For many families, it was their first experience at Ninja Valley. For many children from the wider Cholmondeley community, it was a rare opportunity to be together in the same space - laughing, encouraging one another, taking on challenges, and creating memories that will last long after the adventure ended.

Parents didn't sit on the sidelines. They climbed, laughed, searched for Golden Balls, and shared in the experience alongside their tamariki. Because at Ninja Valley, we don't believe parents are just spectators and that's why we have built our arena with intergenerational play in mind.

One of the standout moments of the evening was seeing confidence built in real time.

One young ninja stood at the top of our Kamikaze slide, wanting desperately to take the leap but not quite believing they could. They sat on the edge. They climbed back down. Then they tried again. And again. With encouragement from our Ninja Crew, they eventually found the courage to take the leap - and the celebration at the bottom was every bit as big as the slide itself.

These moments reminded us that confidence isn't built in giant moments.

It's built one brave little moment at a time.

Elsewhere, groups of friends from across the wider Cholmondeley community were reunited, jumping, laughing, and celebrating simply being together in the same space - an opportunity that doesn't often happen through their regular programmes.

Following the event, the team at Cholmondeley shared:

"Oh my goodness what an incredible event! We had such wonderful feedback from families, and it was so special to have so many from our community in one place. With funding restrictions, it's not often that we are able to provide events like this one for our clients. We have been truly humbled by your generosity, and I know our families have too."

Their reflection captures exactly why these events matter.

For many families, experiences like this can be difficult to access, particularly for larger whānau. Removing barriers to participation and creating opportunities for families to play, connect, and create memories together isn't a side project for us.

It's part of who we are.

At Ninja Valley, generosity isn't a campaign.

It's part of The Ninja Code.

And none of this happens because of Ninja Valley alone.

It happens because of the Ninja Nation.

To every family who has visited our arena, celebrated a birthday with us, attended Ninja Camp or Ninja Training Academy, brought their school, workplace, or organisation, participated in a Fun-Drayza, or simply chosen to spend time with us - thank you.

Your support helps us do more than build playgrounds.
